Responding to this the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo stated that their contract with the Sports Directorate of the University ended prior to their clash against WAFA last week, but they later renewed.
“The security men on campus were instructed by the Sports Directorate to stop us from training because our contract ended and we didn’t renew before our game against WAFA,” he told Pulse sports.
“However, because we relocated to Tema to have a feel of an astroturf, we didn't train at Legon Ajax Park, but we went to renew the contract before we started training there this week.
“However, the authorities forgot to communicate back to the security men that we have renewed the contract and that was the reason they ordered us to stop.
“Training was about ten minutes from completion before they approached us, so we decided to end it, but they confirmed from the Sports Directorate and were okay with the fact that we extended the contract.
“Training will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am at the Legon Ajax Park,”
Hearts of Oak will host Techiman City on match day 24 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
