Brother of President John Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama has expressed disgust as to why the Ameri Power Project contract was not given to Ghanaian contractors.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners (E&P), he would have been able to execute the project if he were given the contract.

Information about a bad power deal government signed with Ameri group have emerged and government has been on the defensive since the story broke

It has been revealed that one Umar Farooq who signed the deal with the power minister and the deputy attorney general Dominic Ayene is a criminal who is wanted by Swiss and Norwegian authorities.

The Power Ministry in a statement has denied all the issues raised by VG a Norwegian newspaper on the deal with government.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners (E&P), Ibrahim Mahama has indicated that the deal is rather unfortunate.

"I would have been glad if it was a Ghanaian who was given the contract for the establishment of the plants. We are so looking for Ibrahim, but we are not looking at the money that Ghana will lose to foreigners...If I were given the letter of credit, I would have executed the project by now," he told Accra-based Okay FM.
