He said "My bid to be the Parliamentary Candidate was frustrated from day one because I was deemed not to be the favorite of the “big wigs”. Even when it was clear, I had the support of the masses and the voiceless, all attempts were made to ‘steal’ from us what rightly belong to us."

He noted that "My opponents pressed on to use their ‘playground’ i.e. the courts to frustrate the process but thanks to my legal team and that of the party then, we were successful. Our election had to be postponed three times all because someone somewhere felt Nii Noi Nortey will win when there is an equal playing field."

According to him, "I may not be a lawyer, I may not belong to the upper class, I may not be the favorite of the big wigs,” he alleged."

His main contender and a member of the NPP legal team, Philip Addison managed to get the results annulled by an Accra High Court.
