“I have told myself, I will not allow anyone to hound me out" - Nii Lantey Vanderpuye
Mr. Nii Lantey and the football governing body have not had the best of relationships since the former took over office from Dr. Mustapha Ahmed as the Sports Minister, but he insist he has no interest in who leads the country's football.
According to him, he has no qualms with anyone at the GFA, but his interest is for Ghana football to achieve success and he won't renege on his zeal to achieve that.
“I have told myself, I will not allow anyone to hound me out [Sports Ministry],” he told TV3 Network.
“Personally, as Nii Lantey Vanderpuije I don’t have a problem with anybody at the GFA because at the end of the day I don’t care who is the FA president. What is of interest to me is Ghana football,” he said.
He explained that, the dynamics of football administration has changed and the heads of the association can't continue to manage football as if we are in the days of old.
He thinks it is about time the GFA and the Sports Ministry sit down and talk about issues considering what he has heard since taking over office in February.
“If you led a certain path and today, trends have changed, the dynamics of the situation demands that we should relook at the way we have done things in the past, I don’t think it should call for hatred [or] it should call for animosity. We should sit down and talk.
"Things that I’ve seen, things that I’ve heard, explanations that I’ve received to certain things that I think that as a country, we’ve been very lucky.
“I have a problem with the way some of the things are done. I have problems with some of the surrogates of the management of the Black Stars who think that they could be the voice of their masters and go on the offensive and attack ministers, hound the ministers out of office.
He said he would continue to do what he believe is right for Ghana football and “if for that one or two people think that I’m not good enough, they should complain to President Mahama."
He also said that should something unfortunate happens to Ghana football, he will be the architect, but people who are adamant to changes.
“If tomorrow something unfortunately happens, it won't be because of me, it will be because people don’t want the right thing to be done,” he said.
