Nii Lantey Vanderpuije says GFA are not thinking well for blaming him

Former Sports Minister has stated the Ghana Football Association who are blaming him for 2018 World Cup failure are of little minds

Earlier this week, Mr Sannie-Daara did make the assertion that the current Honourable minister of Youth and Sports would have aided the Ghana to book a place to Russia 2018 he was in charge from the start.

Sannie Daara also implied that the erstwhile minister Honourable Vanderpuye was not supportive and that his comments on the radio got the country to turn against the team which was counterproductive.

In speaking to Accra-based radio station Class FM,  Honourable Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye responded to the earlier submission from Mr Sannie-Daara.

"I think those who say that are of little minds because I believe in such situations you sit down and do critical analysis.

"I've heard those comments but I do not want to comment too much on it. All I will say is those who are saying this are not thinking well."

"If they were thinking well they will be able to do critical analysis."

"Under my ministerial tenure we Ghana played 2 games and we accrued 1 point at home and lost away.

"After I left how many games were played and how many points were accrued?

"Why then not blame the current minister? Have the GFA looked at themselves to see if they were also a contributory factor?"

Ghana played four games after Honourable Isaac Asiamah took charge as Minister where Ghana accrued 6 points out of a possible 12.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye also gave reference to the English youth system and highlighted the English FA as an example of a group of football administrators who he described to be thinking properly.

"The English after seeing that at their performances national level are not the best have decided to build a national Academy called St George's."

And now look at their performances at the U-17 right up to u-21. They played a friendly game against Brazil and fielded four of their youth players.

Gareth Southgate is thinking about 8 years from now and not just 2018. These are people who are thinking."

England won the 2017 FIFA u-20 and u-17 world cups in June and October respectively.
