Dede Ayew shines for Swansea in Sunderland draw

Third time was no charm for Ghanaian player Andre Ayew in the English Premier League on Saturday in terms of goal scoring.

The former Olympique Marseille player who announced his presence in English top flight football with goals against Chelsea and Newcastle United in his first two games could not find the back of the net against a determined Sunderland.

The Swansea player however did come close, rattling the crossbar with a header that nearly found its way into the Sunderland goal.

Swansea City started their game against Sunderland on a good foot having come into the game with confidence from displays against Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Sunderland were physical in the early staged of the game and Andre Ayew had a little introduction to the rough side of the Premier League with Jack Rodwell giving him a knock on his lower back that needed treatment on the pitch from the Swansea doctors.

The Ghanaian however was not flawed by that and went on to produce assist to the assist for Bafetimbi Gomis’ goal.

Ayew played Kyle Naughton through from the centre circle who further went on with an impressive run before passing to Gomis to finish superbly from the right hand of Swansea attack to send the Wales club 1-0 up into the first half interval.

Sunderland rose up to expectation to match Swansea’s performance in the second half with Jamain Defoe scoring the equalizer for the home team.

Gomis and Ayew came close but Pantilemon was on point to see his side get a point from the game that ended 1-1.

Andre Ayew received a yellow card booking in the second half for bringing down Jack Rodwell to deny a clear Sunderland attack.
