In a Facebook post, Gabby Otchere-Darko said that the Finance Minister has ‘stubbornly refused’ to buy any Toyota Landcruiser V8 for the government appointees in the NPP administration.
This was disclosed by a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.
In a Facebook post, he said that the Finance Minister has ‘stubbornly refused’ to buy any Toyota Landcruiser V8 for the government appointees in the NPP administration.
“I hear so much talk about V8 this month and I am a little confused. What I do know is that the Minister of Finance has stubbornly refused to buy the usual Toyota Landcruiser V8 or what-have-you for ministers since the change in government.”
“Even the vehicles that were ordered by the previous government have had to be audited and stalled and audited with little appetite for them except that the contract may have to be honoured even after some necessary adjustments,” he added.
He mentioned that he also aware that “the Finance Minister is, in fact, planning to buy Toyota Camry, Corolla and the like for Ministers and their deputies, etc. from 2018 onwards.”

This may be government’s way of cutting down cost. Many have accused successive governments of buying Toyota V8 for their appointees. This increases the operational cost of government whose activities are funded by the taxpayer.
If this move is executed, many Ghanaians will be happy since it will reduce the government’s expenditure.
