However a somehow general consensus also came into play as most people agreed certain things need changes at the Swimming Association of Ghana.
Ghanaian swimmer Ophelia Swayne tweeted a screenshot of the news that she will not be representing Ghana at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil with the caption:
“Guys don’t bother rooting for me, I’ll not be going for the Olympics”
After a question on why a girl who doesn’t live in Ghana was taking her place at Rio 2016, Ophelia suggested Kaya Forson’s dad had paid loads of money for her to be replaced writing:
“yeah her father paid loads of money for them to replace me with her so”
Twitter wouldn’t take it. So the tagging started and in a short period of time Ghana twitter wanted justice for Ophelia Swayne.
After some clarifications on how qualifying for the Olympic Games works, Kaya Forson had done nothing wrong. And the bribery allegations could not be substantiated as Kaya did all she had to do to make it to Brazil.
The International Swimming Federation recognized her and her eligibility status for the Olympic Games in Brazil had also been sorted out.
And Twitter once again reacted.
