GRA officials to close Accra Mall down over GHC 2m tax debt

According to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Accra Mall owes over GHC 2million in taxes.

This action was because owners of the mall have failed to pay taxes to the State.

They owe over 2.3million.

Speaking to the journalists present at the Accra Mall, the Chief Revenue Officer leading the taskforce Wisdom Kofi Heto said the GRA had sent a notice to the management of the mall since September that they were indebted to the State but no payments have been made.

According to Accra-based Kasapa FM, the management of the mall is currently in a crunch meeting over the development and are likely to issue out cheques to defray the debt.

The Accra Mall is a shopping centre in Accra, Ghana, located on the Spintex road adjacent to the Tema Motorway. The mall was commissioned on July 4, 2008.

It is one of the most modern shopping malls in West Africa and the first large-scale shopping centre in Ghana. It is owned by Atterbury Property Development, Sanlam and the Morladza family.
