NPP MPs are sleeping in parliament- Prez. Mahama

His comments come after leaders of the NPP said they did not know what the President had done with the huge monies they said he had contracted in loans.

President John Mahama has mocked Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying they have been sleeping in Parliament.

Speaking at a ‘Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana’ rally in the Volta Region on Thursday, President Mahama said it was Parliament which approved all the loans the government had used for development projects.

He said if NPP MPs were among those approving the loans and yet still turned around to ask what the funds had been used for, then it made sense to say that they had been sleeping in Parliament. The President also mocked the internal wrangling within the NPP, saying he could not tell who was party chairman in the party.

He said while Mr Freddy Blay had said he was the Acting National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko had also insisted that he was still the National Chairman.

In what appeared to be a criticism of NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, President Mahama said, “One mark of competent leadership is to manage people and unite people.”
