Gambia to officially protest their defeat against Ghana

The Gambia Football Federation have released an official statement concerning their defeat against Ghana in the WAFU Cup.

Gambia lost to Ghana 1-0. In the statement on the official Gambia football federation website, the federation did go on to emphatically say why they would protest the result.

The Burkinabe referee on the day did adjudge a handball on the part of the Gambia and awarded Ghana a penalty.

Vincent Atingah scored the penalty in the 98th minute and as the game ended close to 10 minutes of regulation time.

The Gambian side rushed onto referee Boukari Ouedrago and the head coach of the side Omar Sise did rant on how the officiating was a shame to football.

The official statement from the Gambian FA did go on to cite a story published on a Ghanaian media portal that the decision was disputed by all supporters. That to their estimation also raised served as deeper grounds to base their suspicion.

The GFF did state that they would formally protest the referee's decision to West African Football Union(WAFU) and Confederation of African Football).

They also threatened to have second thoughts on participating in the next WAFU tournament if justice is not served by their estimation.
