A wicked husband has thrown acid on his wife following a row over her dowry.
23-year-old Jesmin Akter was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with severe burns on her face and scalp as well as other parts of her lower body.
Her body has been wrapped in large swathes of fabric bandages in an attempt to prevent the burnt skin from touching other areas injured by the acid in the attack.
Ms Akter is one of 1847 women who have been the victim of an acid attack in Bangladesh between 1999 and 2015.
Victims often survive the acid attack but the physical and psychological impact means that it can take survivors a long time to rebuild their lives.
Of the 3626 victims of acid attacks from 1999 to 2015, 1847 were female, 901 were male and 877 were children, according to the Acid Survivors Foundation.
