How Black members of Congress stunned in Kente at Trump’s State of the union address

The members, dressed in West African kente cloth to prove black excellence.

African Fashion is obviously taking over. The world is gradually identifying the delectable beauty of our local prints especially Kente.

After witnessing some exquisite African inspired apparel at the premier of Black Panther that exuded black excellence, the members of Congress also represented the black community in Kente at Trump’s State of the union address in an African style.

The were all found in the indigenous Kente fabric which was made in a long strip worn over their corporate style; blazers. Dominated by the beautiful colors of our nation Ghana; red, green and gold, they couldn’t have identified with their descent in any other way than this.

Members of the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) were believed to have worn the brightly colored yellow, green, black and red kente cloth to President Trump’s first State of the Union address, as a sign of defiance against his “Shit hole “comments about African and Caribbean countries.

Kente is a brilliantly colorful fabric, entirely hand-woven by Ghanaian weavers. The brilliant colors and intricate designs associated with Kente have definitely made this fabric the best known of all Ghanaian, and perhaps even all West African textiles. Every design has a story with a proverbial meaning, giving each cloth its own distinction.
