Chris Evans and John Krasinski Play Up Their Boston Roots in Super Bowl Ad for Hyundai

Advertising these days is all about "authenticity"; people want to see commercials that feel real, and speak to them on a human level. Or at least, that's what the ad agencies are saying. So for its TV spot at this weekend's Super Bowl, Hyundai decided to keep things low-key and relatableeven though the commercial stars two of the most popular actors on the planet, not to mention a Saturday Night Live alum and a sporting legend.

Chris Evans & John Krasinski Star in Super Bowl Ad

The ad opens with Captain America himself, Chris Evans , observing a driver's difficulty in parking his car in an especially tight street spot. He strikes up a conversation with Rachel Dratch, and then along comes Jack Ryan star John Krasinski , where the three of them chat about his new Hyundai Sonata's new smart, self-parking function.

Or should that be "smaht pahk." Because what sounds like a frankly quite tedious ad is made all the more entertaining by each of its actors speaking in a comically exaggerated Bostonian accent, in a huge nod to their home city.

The blown-out "ahh" sounds escalate as Dratch and Evans quiz on all the places around town that he's been able to smaht pahk his cah, and the end result is a wicked funny 60-second commercial.

The ad concludes with a cameo from former Major League Baseball pro David "Big Papi" Ortiz. The World Series Champion and All-Star has just as much of a connection to the city; His Bigness played for the Boston Red Sox for 14 seasons.
