Josh Brolin Posted a Thanos Photo and Picked a Fight With Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on Instagram

Marvel fans might be dying to see Thanos go up against the surviving Avengers in next months Endgame, but actor Josh Brolin, who plays the supervillain, is busy beefing with Dwayne Johnson on social media.

Josh Brolin Picks an Instagram Fight With The Rock

Over the weekend, Empire Magazine released images of its Avengers: Endgame special issue covers, one of which features Thanos in full battle regalia. Brolin shared the image to his Instagram account, with the caption: Eat your heart out @therock. Im coming for you next, little guy.

Johnson responded in a comment, saying: Bring it on RoboCop! Im shoving all 6 stones right up your ass and another one just for good measure. #lucky7 Love always, Hobbs.

The signoff refers to Johnsons character in the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, while we can only assume the RoboCop burn is a reference to the fancy new armour Thanos is sporting in the picture.

This isnt the first time The Rock has taunted one of the MCUs iconic characters; during a promo for his TV show The Titan Games in which he wielded a hammer, Johnson joked that he would be a worthy match for Thor himself:

Hey I specialize in big, crazy ideas for the world to enjoy..& a movie where it's the God of Thunder @ChrisHemsworth vs that big, brown, bald, tattooed, tequila drinker fella. U guys ready to see that? #ThorHitsTheFloor #BoxOfficeGold Im calling Kevin Feige to make this happen. pic.twitter.com/8toil0UrwJ - Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) January 18, 2019

The Empire cover is one of the first real glimpses fans have had of Thanos since the climactic scenes in last years Infinity War. While he is included in the full cast poster for Endgame, he has been absent from both trailers, leading to widespread speculation as to his role in the film, and how his character may have developed since his decision to eradicate half of all life in the universe.

Avengers: Endgame is expected to wrap up the giant cliffhanger left by the Decimation (also known colloquially as the Snapture, a term coined by NPRs Glen Weldon ) as well as signal an end to the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans can see the final showdown between Thanos and the Avengers when Endgame comes out on April 26.
