Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Remove a Giant Shoulder Lipoma

In a new YouTube video, Dr. Lee extracts a large shoulder lipoma. Lipomas are benign lumps that form when fat cells become overgrown. They commonly occur on the shoulders and neck, and don't always need to be treated.

Dr. Pimple Popper Removes a Giant Shoulder Lipoma

While the juicy extractions are always the main draw of Dr. Pimple Popper's videos, the patient-doctor banter can sometimes be just as satisfying. In her newest YouTube installment , dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD, proves once again why she's among the best at it, holding forth on Ke$ha, the Grammys, Jessica Chastain, pay inequality, and more, in a video aptly titled "Girl Power."

The video opens with a typical closeup of a patient about to undergo a lipoma extraction, with what appears to be her shoulder-and its accompanying lump-exposed under a blanket. "It's like your own little shoulder pad," Dr. Lee says. The patient says she noticed the lump about a year ago, but says that the mass only recently became a problem.

As Dr. Lee makes a large incision and starts to squeeze the fatty lump out, however, she provides a helpful tutorial about what lipomas are and what causes them. As she puts it, "It's as if one benign fat cell, called an adipose cell, decides to just clone itself. It's a clonal population of benign fat cells, and sometimes they just keep growing on people."

The lipoma proves a little stubborn, she eventually manages to snip the rest away. "If I don't get it all, there's a chance it could come back," she says. That would require a follow-up appointment-one that just might be worth it for the conversation alone.
