Denny Solomona's brilliant four-try haul and Rangi Chase's return were not enough to prevent Castleford Tigers going down 42-26 in a Super League thriller against Warrington Wolves on Sunday.
Solomona took his tally in a prolific season to 28 and scored three times in the first half to put the hosts into an 18-16 half-time lead at The Jungle, while Chase made his second Cas debut off the bench having left the club in 2013 and taken an indefinite break from the game in May following a battle with depression.
Warrington found another gear after the break, though, outscoring Cas four tries to two in a clinical second half.
Frankie Mariano scored the first try of the match in just the fourth minute as Cas got off to a flyer, but a quickfire double from Rhys Evans put the Wolves in front.

Cas hit back again and Solomona had his first after good work from Luke Dorn and the same combination restored the hosts' lead.
The topsy-turvy nature of the match continued when Stefan Ratchford raced through the Cas defence to score, but Solomona completed his hat-trick in style by collecting Chris Sandow's kick and racing 90 metres to score.
Warrington turned it around after the break, though, Brad Dwyer putting the visitors back in front before three scores in 11 minutes from Ben Currie, Toby King and Daryl Clark left Cas out of sight.
Solomona completed a fine individual display by reaching Luke Gale's grubber and Ben Crooks scored on the buzzer, but the damage had already been done.
In Sunday's other contest, Rick Stone's first match in charge of rock-bottom Huddersfield Giants ended in disappointment as St Helens ran in six tries in a 34-18 victory.
Joe Greenwood, Jack Owens, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Jordan Turner, Adam Swift and Alex Walmsley all touched down for Saints.
