Ghana Gas, GNPC merger almost complete

Government last year ceded its entire shareholding in Ghana gas to GNPC, making the GNPC sole shareholder of Ghana gas, after series of boarding room wrangling over the takeover.

Process to merge Ghana Gas and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is progressing steadily, but a complete takeover is dependant on ironing out the legal framework of the takeover, Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has said.

"One of the processes is to make sure that the CEO of GNPC is a board member of Ghana Gas. There are some legal processes that need to be done,"he said in an interview with the Business and Financial Times.

"Basically the two companies are working together with this in mind: that they are one company,” he added.

Kofi Buah adds that" Ghana Gas can benefit with a strong balance sheet of GNPC as we go forward, and I believe it is good for Ghana”.
