The Electoral Commission has announced it will hold a by-election in the Amenfi West Constituency of the Western Region on December 15, 2015, to elect a new member of parliament.
This follows the sudden death of the then MP John Gyetuah, on October 13.

The by-election is to be held in accordance with Article 112 (5) of the Constitution as amended.
A statement by the EC on Monday evening said “The election will be held on Tuesday, the 15th Day of December, 2015 from 7:00am to 5:00pm”
The EC added nominations for the election will be taken on Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19 at the Asankragwa office of the Commission from 8:00am to 12:00noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm each day.
“Nomination forms may be obtained from the Returning Officer at the District Office or the Regional Office of the Commission in Sekondi.
“Prospective candidates shall attach four recent photographs of bust size, with red background showing the full face and both ears, to the completed nomination forms.
“The filing fee for the election remains One Thousands Ghana Cedis (GH 1000.00)”, the statement signed by Deputy Chairman (Operations), Amadu Sulley said.
John Gyetua died on October 13, after a short illness.
He was appointed Minister of State at the Presidency by the late President John Evans Atta Mills in 2010.
The late MP was married with seven children.
