It's a constituency that will see a new Member of Parliament - indeed it is bound to produce an exciting MP when one considers the three leading candidates.

Nii Noi Nortey became the renegade when he  decided to contest Klottey Korle as an Independent candidate after losing out to "Petition Lawyer" Philip Addison in a contentious primaries that was run more than ones. From indications, he seems to be very well known on the ground and may have had a better chance of annexing the seat if he had run on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party which is quite strong in the Constituency.

The voters that Nii Noi Nortey may have appealed to now have to decide between him and their party's representative, Philip Addison. Mr. Addison, it seems, is not too known in the area and has his ace being the fact that he was the lead counsel for the party during the famous election petition case in the Supreme Court in 2013. But he's running on the ticket of a major party and that gives him some cushion.

Now in this same constituency is the NDC's Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings - first daughter of Ghana's longest ruling Head of State and Founder of the popular NDC, JJ Rawlings. She seems to be shaping up in a similar mould as her much loved and popular father - a horse-riding doctor who does not fear reaching out for the microphone to entertain a cheering audience.

Now the National Democratic Congress  (NDC) as we know in 2016 has money to spend, and they are spending a lot of it. It is the most visible party and has billboards sometimes six times the size of their closest opponents.

The NPP does not have too much to spend but surely they have more than what former NPP Chairman of that constituency and now independent candidate Nii Noi does.

He remembers one of the favourite and most effective political communication tools as used in universities across Ghana and deploys it - chalking - and he uses it.

Chalking is simply the use of chalk or other makers to inscribe messages on streets, verandah, and other walkways. Quite often because people walk over them or cars drive over them, they don't last too long. But because they are suddenly seen on the ground, they attract immediate attention and are thus quite effective at communicating.

Inhabitants of Asylum Down, Adabraka and other environs that constitute Klottey Korle woke up this week to see "Vote Nii Noi" markings strategically across streets in the constituency.

Nii Noi Nortey may not have a blank cheque to campaign with nor a party to support him, but surely chalking will aid in keeping his name ringing in the ears of potential voters. This adds us to the large approaches been used to campaign for elections 2016 - a subject we shall soon explore in greater detail.
