The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has said that all members who seek to get appointments in a future NDC government may soon be required to go through the partyâs ideological school.
According to him, nobody can run for president or get an appointment as a minister, metropolitan, municipal or district chief executive if the person had not gone through the Ghana Institute of Social Democracy (GISD).
He believes that such a move will enable the NDC to restore its core values and avoid repeating past mistakes.
âThis business where there was an attempt to cut the past completely and create a new identity within the party is what has led us to opposition.â
âThe NDC is NDC, there is no leader who will come and is bigger than the NDC, thereâs no leader who will be allowed to create his own party within the party; and going forward never again will certain mistakes of the past be repeated.
â⊠And that is the reason we are going to the school; before you become minister, before you become DCE, before you become MP, if you donât go through the institute, master you wonât get it,â Mr Anyidoho told Accra-based Class FM.
He further argued that the school is important for party members because âyou must get to the office with the orientation that the party put you there.â
âEven to become president, you must go to the school so that you donât become president and appoint your family and friends, so that people go to the ministerial vetting and when they ask: âAre you NDC?â, you say you are not NDC. If you are not NDC, who nominated you to become minister on the ticket of the NDC?â he asked.
âIt means the nominating authority itself needs orientation,â Mr Anyidoho added.
