Dreams FC coach C.K. Akunnor eyes Black Stars coaching job in the distant future

Ex-Black Stars skipper and Dreams FC coach C.K. Akunnor has expressed his interest in the Black Stars coaching job.

The 41-year-old ex-footballer has declared his interest in coaching the country’s flagship national team when given the chance.

“I have dreams of coaching the Black Stars one day but I know it’s a long shot. But I’m not shying away from it,” Akunnor told Kumasi-based Ultimate FM

“Whatever it will take for me to reach that dream, I will keep working hard and educating myself until I’m ready for the challenge.” he added.

The former Wolfsburg captain after hanging his boots in 2009  took coaching as his profession and had his first coaching stints at Sekondi Eleven Wise in the 2011/12 Ghana Premier League season.

Akunnor in 2012 was appointed as Hearts of Oak coach but he got sacked in 11 months in to his job before being named Dreams FC head coach last season. C.K. Akunnor defied all odds to qualify the Kweiman based club in to the country’s elite division.

On his opening Ghana Premier League game with Dreams FC, he won against Dwarfs by a goal to nil in Cape Coast.
