On 10th December 1993, Zamalek defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko 7-6 on penalties after the game had ended without a winner in regulation time at the Cairo International Sports Stadium.

Egyptian giants Zamalek have posted a video of their triumph over Kumasi Asante Kotoko 26 years ago.

Asante Kotoko played 30 minutes with ten men after Olli Rahman was red-carded in the 60th minute for a retaliatory strike on an opponent.
During the penalty shootout, Kotoko were put in an advantageous position two times to lift the cup in but failed.
Tony Osei Kwadwo who was the man of the match, gave the Kotoko players much inspiration by saving the 1st penalty from Zamalek’s Khaled. Frimpong Manso, Joe Okyere, Yaw Owusu and Tony Osei Kwadwo, scored for Kotoko,
whiles Ampeah failed to score the winning penalty. Agyeman Duah missed the last penalty that gave Zamalek the trophy.
Kotoko’s skipper was Frimpong Manso and their head coach was Malik Jabir.
