Former Liverpool captain has revealed that Jose Mourinho advised him to start a war with his former side he order for him to make a more to Real Madrid.

Mourinho was coach of Real Madrid between 2010 to 2013 and wanted to bring Gerrard to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

In an interview with set to be aired on September 30, the now LA Galaxy midfielder revealed that Mourinho wanted him to start a war with Liverpool to make the move easy.

“They wanted me to kick up a war to get out of Liverpool for a certain amount of money, which I wasn’t prepared to do,” Gerrard said.

“I think Real Madrid, when they’re after a player, they have the attitude of ‘we’re Real Madrid, you should fight to come to us.

“But my love for Liverpool, I was not prepared to go to war and I was very happy and stable at the time.”
