The gunman, who appeared drunk, grew angry after being refused free entry to the bar where patrons had paid roughly USD 0.50 each to watch the Chelsea vs. Everton match on television. The man stormed off, “but when he came back he was carrying a gun and just started shooting randomly,” said Amondoc.

The incident happened at around 9:00 pm (1800 GMT) in Gure, a poor suburb in Juba’s southwest.

According to police spokesman in Juba, Justin Daniel, residents of the suburb of Gure have been told to cooperate with the security men to help with information in apprehending the suspect and also curbing the activities of strange persons.

The police in the country stated that it would work with other security forces in uncovering the root behind the act and also apprehending the offender.

The media in South Sudan reported that the gunman opened fire on at least 40 people watching a Premier League game around 8pm local time in an act that lasted more than 10 minutes.
