Koforidua garbage collectors declare strike

There is a looming cholera outbreak as heaps of garbage have been left in front of homes and on many streets in the municipality.

Following a decision by waste collectors in Koforidua to lay down their tools, filth has engulfed many parts of the New Juabeng Municipality in the Eastern region.

The situation, according to some residents of the area who spoke to Starr News, poses a serious threat to their health.

“This entire community is surrounded by filth. If we all contract cholera, then it means the government wants us to die that is why they have refused to pay workers of Zoomlion to enable them collect the garbage. The situation is the same in many other areas including, Asokore, Oyoko and Efiduase,” one of the worried residents noted.
