C.J. Anderson had 'mixed emotions' when Broncos matched Dolphins' offer

A week after the running back signed with the Dolphins, the Broncos matched Miami's offer sheet, which means Anderson will stay in Denver.

But, according to Anderson, the Dolphins came back with more money.

"Being low-tendered from the beginning, you just never know what is going on,"??Anderson told ESPN.

"If it was about the money, I would have went to Chicago because they actually offered more. It was more about me putting myself in the best situation system-wise.

"I know I can do it with [Broncos coach Gary] Kubiak and I knew I could do it over there with [Dolphins coach Adam] Gase."

Anderson, 25,??seems content with the fact the Broncos kept him, but he said he had "mixed emotions" when he heard the news.

"I felt disrespected, of course, but that's what put me in the position I'm in today. You know, always grinding and always working hard for that opportunity," he said.

Anderson will be with the Broncos for four more years and will receive a $5.25million signing bonus on top of his guaranteed??base salary of $675,000.

For 2017,??$1.7m of his $2.9m base salary is also guaranteed.

Anderson struggled this past season with injuries, rushing for only??720 yards and five touchdowns.

However, he redeemed himself in Super Bowl 50 when he ran for a 90-yard touchdown to help secure the Broncos' 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers.
