Djokovic forced to earn fourth-round spot at Indian Wells
The Serbian world number one won in straight sets against Philipp Kohlschreiber, but it was not as comfortable as it seemed.
Djokovic won 7-5 7-5 but struggled to maintain his authority over the contest at times as he was made to earn every point against his spirited German opponent.
Kohlschreiber managed a break in the first set but was broken twice by Djokovic despite a strong serving performance from both sides of the net.
In the second, Djokovic lost his break advantage, only to win it back in the crucial, match-winning last game.
Kohlschreiber's 29 unforced errors, compared to Djokovic's 23, proved instrumental in his loss.
Djokovic now boasts an 8-1 head-to-head record against the German world number 30 and progresses to the fourth round, where he will play Feliciano Lopez.
