Voting underway at Jaman North

Media reports earlier indicated that the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Jaman North constituency was suspended on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

Voting has begun at Jaman North constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The presidential and parliamentary polls were postponed by the Electoral Commission (EC) to Thursday, December 8, 2016, following disagreements due to an objection raised by the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The candidate, Fredrick Ahinkwaa and his agents according to reports raised an objection because he alleged that the materials provided for the election did not tally with that of the NDC.

According to him, the police had to hold five separate meetings with the parties over the matter but all proved futile.
The postponement comes after the EC had a meeting with the security and approved the suspension of the voting.
However, the EC said polling stations will close at 5pm.
