England bowler Mark Wood is seeing two specialists this week to assess his ankle amid reports he will require further surgery.

Seamer Wood left England's tour of Pakistan to undergo surgery on the problem in November and had an injection earlier this month in an attempt to resolve the issue.

Reports have indicated Wood will require another operation that will force him to miss England's upcoming home series with Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

However, a spokesperson for Wood's domestic side Durham told Omnisport he is seeing two specialists and that they hope to know the next course of action by Thursday.

Wood has played eight Tests for England, taking 25 wickets at an average of 34.40. He has five wickets in seven one-day internationals and claimed three dismissals in his sole Twenty20 appearance for England against New Zealand last June.
