  • Gospel musician Florence Obinim has reportedly begun a traditional divorce process from her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, after more than 20 years of marriage.

  • Media personality Ola Michael claimed Florence’s family returned ‘Tiri Nsa’ to Bishop Obinim’s family, reportedly citing alleged disrespect, insults and disgrace.

  • The claim has not been independently confirmed by either Florence Obinim or Bishop Daniel Obinim, although Florence previously said she was prepared to accept a divorce if her husband wanted to end the marriage.

Media personality Ola Michael made the claim during a broadcast on Neat FM, alleging that information came from a member of Bishop Obinim’s family.

According to Ola, Florence Obinim’s family has returned the ‘Tiri Nsa’ — traditional drinks presented as part of customary marriage rites — to Bishop Obinim’s family.

The reported action is being interpreted as a traditional indication that Florence’s family wants to bring the marriage to an end.

Ola Michael said;

Are you aware that the marriage between the Obinims has come to an end? Florence’s family has returned Bishop Obinim’s ‘Tiri Nsa’ to him, symbolising the end of their marriage

Ola further claimed that Florence’s family decided to return the traditional drinks because they had allegedly become frustrated with what they described as repeated disrespect, embarrassment and insults surrounding the marriage.

He also claimed that Bishop Obinim’s family accepted the drinks rather than rejecting them, despite the potential implications for the marriage.

Ola recounted;

What the family member told me was that Florence’s family had returned the drinks, saying they were tired of the disgrace, insults and everything else that had happened

According to him, he subsequently asked whether Bishop Obinim had personally accepted the drinks when they were returned.

He added;

I asked him whether, when the family returned the drinks, Bishop Obinim collected them, and he said the bishop hurriedly directed that they should take them

The latest report comes months after Florence Obinim publicly addressed speculation about her marriage.

In June 2026, she indicated that she would be prepared to accept a divorce if her husband decided that he wanted to end their marriage.

Her comments followed remarks by Bishop Obinim in which he spoke publicly about difficulties within their relationship.

The bishop had expressed frustration over the state of the marriage, saying he had reached a point where he felt afraid of his wife and became uncomfortable when it was time to return home.

Florence, responding to her husband’s comments, maintained that she had done everything she could to preserve the marriage.

She reportedly indicated that if Bishop Obinim ultimately decided to leave, she would not prevent him from doing so.

Despite the latest claims, there has been no public confirmation from either Florence Obinim or Bishop Daniel Obinim that the traditional drinks were returned or that the couple has formally begun a traditional divorce process.

The claims therefore remain allegations attributed to Ola Michael and an unnamed member of Bishop Obinim’s family.

Florence and Daniel Obinim have been married for more than two decades and have long been one of Ghana’s most prominent celebrity religious couples.

Until either party confirms the reported development, the status of their marriage remains unverified.
