West Ham United has officially announced the departure of manager Slaven Bilic.
The Croatian has been in the helm of the affairs at the club since June 2015.
Bilic who incidentally played for West Ham from 1996 to 1997 has been given the sack following a poor start to the 2016/2017 season of the English Premier League.
West Ham currently lie 18th of the English Premier League and the West Ham board made the decision to part ways with the Croatian boss after a 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool.
The official statement released by the club states that:
“The Chairmen and board of West Ham United would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude to Slaven and his team for their services over the past two-and-a-half years, but believe a change is now necessary in order for the Club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition.”
The statement on the official website also went on indicate Bilic’s assistant managers in Nikola Jurcevic, Edin Terzic, Julian Dicks and Miljenko Rak had also been asked to leave with immediate effect.
West Ham are in search of a new manager and competent deputies which will be announced in the coming days.
Bilic signed Ghanaian player Andre Ayew from Swansea City in a club record transfer deal.
