Brumbies hope to keep hold of David Pocock amid reports he could be set to take a year-long break from rugby.

Pocock was an integral figure in Australia's run to the 2015 Rugby World Cup final but is now reportedly considering a sabbatical from the sport when his contract with the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) expires in December.

However, Brumbies have no intention of agreeing to a possible year out and will look to retain his services.

"It creates all sorts of problems if Poey takes a break," Brumbies chief executive Michael Jones told The Daily Telegraph.

"My preferred solution, and our offer to him, doesn't allow a break.

"There is still a fair bit of water to go under the bridge."

Pocock is also being linked with a switch to Reds following the announcement that flanker Liam Gill will leave for France at the end of the season.
