The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has backed His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to build and economy every Ghanaian will be happy with.

The vice-president of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as part of his opening remarks for the Ghana Economic Forum has assured Ghanaians that the New Patriotic Party government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is working to build a Ghanaian economy beyond aid.

Dr. Bawumia, who was not physically present at the even said via a pre-recorded video:

“Fundamentally, the vision of Nana Addo Dankwa is essentially to build an economy beyond aid and to build an economy that is beyond dependency.

“We are looking at building a vibrant Ghanaian economy.

“If you look at the things that we are doing as a government, and the framework, we want to build an economy beyond aid.

“We are making sure that as far as government contracts are concerned, for tax payers funded contract we award 70% to local entities. This will really help us in Ghanaian ownership."

The vice president of Ghana also touched on his governments measure to build the average Ghanaian’s confidence in investing in the nation.

“We also want to build an economy that encourages investment,” Dr Mahamudu Bawumia continued.

“That investment has to be encouraged by making sure that macro economy is stable. Ghanaians are not going to invest in an economy which is unstable. Foreigners wouldn't invest and Ghanaians wouldn’t invest either.

“We are moving quickly in that direction.”

The Ghana Economic Forum is aimed at enriching the Ghanaian knowledge through strategic thinking and interactive discussions with personalities and leading experts from the African and international corporate communities to have a Ghanaian-owned economy.
