Lalji Rabari is reported to have told police that he had gone to his cow shed and found three of them tied with rope and one of them lying dead on the floor.

He then suspected that someone must have had sex with the animals, and Rathodiya was his first suspect because of his track record.

He reportedly admitted to the offence upon interrogation by the police, but a police officer is also quoted as saying “When we talked to the villagers, they told us that Rathodiya has psychological problems and he even blabbers when he is alone.”
