Single women marry trees in a lovely mass wedding

According to Metro.co.uk, about a third of Mexico’s land area is covered by forest, but the country has been battling with illegal logging perpetrated by supposed criminal groups.

Having seen the imminent danger that may befall the nation in the face of the reckless deforestation and a worldwide problem of global warming, some organisations individual environmentalists have embarked on campaigns to safeguard Mexico’s forest cover.

The advocacy is aimed at sensitizing the public about the relevance of trees and the need to protect them.

The advocacy to protect trees dubbed ‘Marry a tree’ was started by ‘Bedani’, an organization whose main objective was to show appreciation to the earth, apparently for its numerous benefits to humanity.

Later, Peruvian actor and environmentalist Richard Torres took it to a different level where it has become a custom for men and women to get married to trees.

Though trees are not humans and are unable to give their consent, the ceremony is done in a lively manner where women dress in white gowns that look like wedding ones

Bouquet of flowers are equally thrown just like in normal marriages, but obviously it is only the humans who would catch them.
