To get rid of a cowlick, use a mascara wand in place of a brush for that area during your blow-dry.
Which is why one of our beauty writers was blown away by a trick she learned from Dove hairstylist Mark Townsend during a recent trim at NYC's Sally Hershberger salon:
How to nail a blowout at home once and for all:
"To get rid of a cowlick, use a mascara wand in place of a brush for that area during your blow-dry.
"Because its bristles are smaller, it's able to provide more tension to grip hairs that need to be persuaded to stay flat (hair brushes can't do the same because they have longer bristles meant to grasp sections—not strands—of hair).
"Save the cowlick for last (you want most of the water out; the area should be about 80 percent dry), and then push the wand into the hairline and pull strands in the direction you want them to go.
"Repeat this motion until your hair is dry and swoop-free."
Consider our minds blown. Buh-bye, cowlicks!
