The prison cells where both remand and convicted prisoners are being held were, however, not affected.

Eyewitnesses say the bus was dragged by flooding water from inside the yard, which is on a higher ground, and broke the wall causing the bus to land on its side on the ground outside the prison premises. Some prison officers of the Central Prison on Friday morning gathered at the scene to inspect the nature of the damage and find a solution to it.

The prison bus has since been lifted from the area.
