A fatal accident involving supporters of the New Patriotic Party has left scores injured and two persons dead.

The supporters were heading to a Constituency rally at Kpedzegblo, in the Central Tongu Constituency in the Volta region.

The party's presidential nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo, will begin a five-day tour of the region on Monday, October 24.

The Urvan mini-van carrying the supporters tried to overtake a taxi cab, and skidded off the road, plunging into a depression beside the road.

According to multiple media reports, over ten people have sustained severe injuries and two of the victims, clad in party paraphernalia, lay dead on the ground.

The advance team of the campaign in the region led by Hopeson Adorye have moved to the accident scene.
