Another gas explosion in Mankessim

No casualty was recorded but properties worth millions were destroyed.

According to reports, the gas explosion occurred at a bakery near a Methodist church in the area around 4:00am Wednesday dawn.

The owner of the station rushed to the scene and called fire service to douse the fire to prevent it from spreading claiming the tube connected to the cylinder was leaking and quickly caught fire.

On Monday October 9, the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly shut down six fuel stations at Mankessim, as a proactive measure to prevent any disaster.

The operation, which started on Monday and saw the closure of Shell filling station in the area, is to be replicated in all communities in the Municipality.

Their action comes at the back of a gas explosion at Atomic junction on Saturday, that claimed seven lives and left several others injured.

The gas station explosion has killed at least 7 persons and injured 132 people.
