He is due for retirement in January 2018.
A memo from the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, asked ACP Addo-Danquah to act as the CID boss.
Sources say COP Oduro's ouster from office was due to several petitions against him in connection with land related issues.
He is accused of giving cover to deadly land guards, especially in the Greater Accra Region and that his continuous stay in office will hinder plans by the Greater Accra Regional Police command to clampdown on land guards menace in the region.
