A Kumasi Circuit Court earlier this year discharged the eight members of vgilante group who were being tried after they disrupted court proceeding of 13 of their members.

The 13 were arrested by the police after they attacked the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei. The men argued that Mr Agyei did not deserve the position because he played no role in the struggle to bring the NPP into power.

The case against the eight was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Speaking on the subject matter, COP Ken Yeboah said: “according to the Attorney General, we did not have enough evidence so they were let go, but we came out appealing to the public to assist us to get credible information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits.”

“They were not the culprits and the real culprits, we are looking for them. You as a citizen, you have every right and responsibility to also assist,” he said.

He further indicated that the Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei has been refusing to corporate with the police and this is frustrating investigations.

“The man as we speak now has refused to provide information. He told us he is not prepared to come forward and so how do we prosecute because he was the one alleged to have been attacked. We even called identification he said he will not come and so how do we continue with the case,” he said.
