The National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized some senior figures of the party for constantly attacking former President John Dramani Mahama.
His comments were in reference to Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and former National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) boss, Sylvester Mensah who have both separately aimed attacks at the party’s flagbearer for the 2016 elections.

Mr. Bagbin once tore into Mahama, describing him as a man not fit to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections.
He went on to accuse the former president of hiding behind unity walks to re-launch his political ambition.
Mr. Mensah also questioned the relevance of Mahama’s candidacy following his heavy defeat in the 2016 elections.
According to him, the NDC is in a new era which demanded new faces to take over the flabearership of the party.
However, speaking on the attacks by the two senior figures of the NDC, Kofi Adams described their tirades as “embarrassing”.
He said it was clear that the actions of the duo was "hurting the NDC" and they must stop immediately.

According to him, such unnecessary attacks on Mahama will only end up undermining the efforts being put in place to unify and reorganize the party ahead of the 2020 elections.
He added that disciplinary action will be taken against the two senior members of the party following their attacks on ex-president Mahama.
"It is clear we must take an action [because] we are very unhappy with the behaviour of these seniors," Mr. Adams said on Joy FM’s Top Story.
"It appears they are happy that we are in this position otherwise they will be spending more time towards the party’s reorganization."
Meanwhile, both Mr. Bagbin and Mr. Mensah have openly declared their intentions to contest for the NDC’s flagbearership ahead of the 2020 elections, although Mr. Mahama has not yet confirmed whether he will also contest or not.
