Mahama visits injured journalists

Reports indicate that the Ghanaian Times reporter Samuel Nuamah died on the spot while three other reporters are battling for their lives

 

President John Mahama has paid a visit to the 37 Military Hospital to check on the presidential press corps who was involved in a fatal accident on its way from the Volta region.

The situation has led to the injury of some of the reporters with about three of them battling for their lives.

The police have however, confirmed the death of a Ghanaian Times reporter in the presidential press corps accident which occurred at Doryumu junction in the Shai Hills area on Thursday afternoon.

Mahama, who was devastated, commiserated with the family of Nuamah and others who are in a critical condition.

Reports indicate that the van which was involved in the fatal accident was caused by a tyre burst.

Three others, Pascaline Adadevoh of GBC, Napoleon Ato Kittoe of GTV, Patrick Bida were airlifted to the 37 Military hospital and are responding to treatment.

About twenty journalists were said to have been involved in the accident.
