Kwesi Appiah aims at building a formidable team in 2019

The coach of the Ghana Black Stars highlights building a team that will last the test of time.

Ghana played the Pharoahs of Egypt in a dead rubber 2018 World Cup qualification which had Egypt book their place to football’s grandest stage in Russia prior to the World Cup.

Kwesi Appiah as head coach started the campaign from Ghana’s third game against Congo in Kumasi. Ghana in that instance had gone two games without a win under Avram Grant.

Kwesi Appiah makes the point that it would have been quite uncertain to say things would have been better if he took over the side from the onset.

“I believe the team has done that well. It is difficult to say that we would have qualified if I was here from the beginning”.

Coach James Kwesi Appiah reiterated that the focus now is to build a formidable team by the year 2019.

“The essence of the games we play now is to build a formidable team by the year 2019 and not what I would have done if I started the World Cup qualifiers.”

Coach James Kwesi Appiah’s is on a two year contract which runs to the year 2019.
