Coutinho and Neymar dreamt of playing for Real Madrid as youngsters

The Brazilian duo dreamt of playing for the Los Blancos when they growing up

Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain and has taken the French league by storm in the few games that he has played so far while Coutinho could well be his replacement at the Catalan club.

The pair are good friends and got to know each other for the first time in March, 2008, when they were called up to the Brazil U-16 side that played tournaments in Qatar and Europe. David Ruiz had the chance to speak to them that year where they talked about their hopes for the future that included talk of players and clubs with one side in particular Real Madrid their dream to play for.

Which is your dream club?Coutinho: Real Madrid. It is the best team in the world. Neymar: Real Madrid.

'Future Robinhos' (David Ruiz, March 20th, 2008)

Who were your idols as a youngster?Coutinho: I learnt to do bicycle kicks watching Robinho on the television. I like a lot to watch Real Madrid and Barcelona which are my favourite teams in LaLiga.

Neymar: I joined Santos aged seven. At the start I played football sala and then moved to Portuguesa Santista before returning to Santos. I saw Robinho a lot on the television and I tried to copy him all the time above all the way he looks to beat players.

I also love Spanish football. They play attractive football, that is fast and with a lot of quality.What is your target?Coutinho: The Spanish league because there they are the best players in the world like Robinho and Ronaldinho.Neymar: The Spanish league. It is the most spectacular and the best players are there.
