KOTOKO WERE DECLARED LOSERS

Kotoko were declared losers of the F.A because Joe Debrah who was very instrumental in Kotoko’s victory against Hearts was unqualified to play. Joe Debrah had received a yellow card in the national league, the national F.A Cup and the OGLCA competition, hence unqualified to play in the final of the F.A Cup, but Kotoko unknowingly used him for the match. Hearts of Oak filed a protest with the GFA and after series of sittings by the disciplinary committee of the GFA, Kotoko were finally declared losers on 23rd October, 1990. The then Chief Executive of Kotoko S.K Awuah reacted to the ruling and blamed the GFA for that, but nothing changed. The GFA took two months to declare Hearts of Oak the winners, because they didn’t want the it to interfere with the Black Star’s preparation for the nation’s Cup qualifiers.
