CK Akonnor yet to sign contract with AshantiGold

Charles Akonnor plans to start training with Ashdold although he is yet to sign an official contract with the club

However, coach Akonnor did say talks have begun with the club but it is not yet a done deal.

Akonnor speaking to the media after the 2017 CAF Awards event where he confirmed he is yet to fully agree terms with the club.

“I am in terms of negotiationwiththem. It is not a done deal yet but if you ask me my direction is towards them. I will needtosign a new contractbefore I canofficiallysay I am thecoach of Ashgold.”

Charles K Akonnor was appointed coach of Ashgold in the interim following the exit of coach Bashiru Hayford when the club was relegation threatened in the middle of last season.

Akonnor managed to rescue the “miners” from that situation and in that regard stated the plan and the target he has for Ashgold going into next season

“Wewanttobepreparedbeforetheseasonstarts of coursewe do not wanttobe in thesituationwewere last season.”

“It was a very bad one therefore we looking forward to have a good pre-season and prepare for a nice season.”

Charles Akonnor was with Dreams FC in the Division One League before moving to AshGold in the Premier League mid-season.

Dreams FC qualified into the top flight ahead of next season Akonnor talks about prospects of facing his former side.

“It will be interesting and Kurt Okraku the CEO of my former club just spoke shortly and we even share jokes on that. He supportsmymovetoAshantiGold as well as thefamily,” he said.
