Hearts of Oak dismantle Tema Youth in thrilling fashion

Hearts of Oak restored confidence by winning convincingly against a Tema Youth side who showed a lot of grit.

Accra Hearts of Oak brushed aside Tema Youth 3-1 at the Accra Sports stadium on match-day 24 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Sunday.

Two goals from captain Thomas Abbey and Kwame Kizito’s goal were enough to secure all three points for the Phobians.

Abbey opened the scoring for the Phobians after he converted from the penalty spot to give Hearts the lead.

Hearts striker Kwame Kizito scored the second goal for Hearts in the 56th minute when he headed in from close range after Patrick Razak drive a goal was half saved by Tema Youth goalkeeper Steven Kweku.

With everyone expecting a 2-0 score line Joseph Paintsil reduced the score line before Thomas Abbey again added the third goal - his second of the day - as Hearts of Oak maintained a two goal advantage.

Hearts were able to hold on to their lead as they stayed in third, five points adrift leaders Aduana Stars but the Phobians have one game in hand against arch-rivals Kotoko.
