Egypt beat Uganda to go top of group E

Mohammed Salah scored the only goal of the game in Alexandria on Tuesday

The hosts who needed a win at all cost to have the group under control made their intentions clear right from the blast of the referees first whistle by attacking from all angles.

Their effort paid off after Mohammed Salah made a run into empty space to receive a pass- his first shot was blocked by Dennis Onyongo in post for Uganda, but Salah was quick to tap in the rebound beyond the reach of the shot stopper.

Uganda afterwards took control of the game and despite creating some decent goal scoring opportunied they failed to put the final ball at the back of the Egyptian net.
